Doc Wayne

Doc Wayne’s mission is to provide access to brighter futures for youth around the world and strengthen the field of mental health by using revolutionary sport-based therapy and clinical initiatives. Doc Wayne is unique in being a mobile clinic, bringing therapy programming to youth who might otherwise go without treatment. Their proprietary curriculum translates common therapeutic models into sports-based language that youth can easily understand. This treatment modality is proven to encourage attendance and help youth internalize important mental health lessons.

Doc Wayne offers a variety of direct service programs including Chalk Talk® Group Therapy, Therapeutic Recess, and Individual Therapy. Each of these programs is designed to assist youth with different mental health needs, ensuring they have the best quality support available to them. In 2020, Doc Wayne launched its external training program, The Champions Network®, through which Doc Wayne staff share the power of sports-based therapy with clinicians, sports coaches, and other youth development professionals across the world.

Doc Wayne has been recognized in a number of ways for its work, including the 2014 Social Innovator Award by the Social Innovation Forum, 2015 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sports Award, and 2016 Beyond Sport Global Sports for Health Award.

"CFP actually took the time to help and guide me, unlike the other places I've been in. I was  treated like a person rather than a chore. Even if I tried to push everyone away, but no matter how angry I got, everyone listened. Everyone stayed."
